SEND carer/PA needed: term time and non-term time – flexible

We are looking for a PA for our son, Ted. Ted is almost 7 years old, and is now in his third year at Hob Moor Oaks SEND school.

Ted is a lovely, funny, active little boy, who is always on the go, loves to laugh and can be very affectionate. He is autistic and has sensory processing differences, and is non-verbal. He loves looking at his books, watching gymnastics and diving on the telly, as well as having a go at gymnastics himself on his wall and door bars. He enjoys walks out in his buggy at country house estates, going to the park and especially playing on swings He enjoys trampolining, swimming and loves looking at trees. He loves long baths and snuggling under his fluffy blankets.

Ideally, we are looking for a PA to look after Ted for two hours after school, five days a week, in our home in Poppleton during term time. The hours would be from the time he comes home on the school bus (around 4.00pm, though we could negotiate a later start time if that doesn\’t fit in). One parent will usually be in the house working from home to support if necessary and another PA may be present too. The role would involve feeding Ted his tea and supporting him as necessary.

We are also looking for someone to do set hours in the school holidays and some weekends (potentially full days though we can be flexible) and there may also be some term time morning hours available, so if that is of interest please do let us know This would involve trips out with Ted with another carer (often on nice walks to places like Beningbrough Hall, Lotherton Hall, Temple Newsam, or trips to the Railway Museum, Tropical World or the trampoline park – be prepared to run and jump too)

Full training will be given, and experience with SEND children is preferable but not necessary. Applications from students, people working in schools, carers, etc very welcome If you have a car, that would be helpful but not essential.

Salary is £14 per hour. Recent enhanced DBS check will be required which we can arrange.
