The postholder will work as part of a team to co-ordinate technical operations in an academic and research setting, ensuring compliance with safety standards and the effective management of facilities, equipment, resources and technical expertise. Specifically, the postholder will lead a team of technicians responsible for the Materials, Metrology and Thermofluids laboratories and will provide Health and Safety advice.
About You:
- Experience of managing in an engineering laboratory, workshop or other technical facility; specific experience in materials, metrology and thermofluids.
- Ability to line manage specialist technical staff promoting a culture of flexibility and collaboration.
- Able to offer technical advice and guidance to academic and research staff, assisting with experiment design and materials testing.
- Track record of operating with high levels of safety, and able to act as School Health and Safety Officer.
