Role Overview
This role is an onsite role, and you will be based on our Loughborough campus. The rate of pay is open to a Market Supplement.
The working hours are Monday – Friday, though on call availability via rota is required for this role which will include overnight and weekends.
Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will join a team of Builders, Joiners and Maintenance Operatives working together on our Loughborough Campus completing reactive and planned maintenance tasks, alongside Plumbers and Electricians.
You would be expected to carry out a variety of general building work, with a focus on roof works and working at heights. Our tasks require you to commute across campus to complete works for students, staff members and tenants across campus. You will receive your workload via our online work allocation tool Archibus and be expected to provide updates to your jobs using an ipad. Therefore, a competency with IT Skills is required. You would be expected to manage your own workload independently, with support from your line manager.
This role will focus on completing works on roofs and a confidence and comfortability with working at heights is essential.
You will also direct and lead with the erection and dismantling of scaffold towers and the user of ladders to undertake specialist training where required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experienced in bricklaying, slab laying, block paving, roofing works, floor and wall tiling, plastering, above and below ground drainage systems, joinery works, locksmithing or other building fabric related areas
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
- Skilled roofer with qualified roofing experience
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of asbestos awareness
- Demonstrate ability to understand Drawings / schematic drawings
- Education to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths & English
- NVQ level 2 diploma or equivalent
Be available to participate in the On Call Rota which runs evening and weekends throughout the year
