We have an exciting opportunity for a Sessional Academic Coach to join our team at Loughborough College Group, based at Loughborough College. The Sessional Academic Coach will support elite athletes enrolled in the College Sport Academies who are studying A-Levels alongside significant training and competition commitments. The role focuses on helping students effectively balance the demands of a dual career by providing structured academic guidance, organisational support, and strategies to maintain progress and wellbeing throughout the academic year.
Responsibilities of this role include:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group academic coaching for academy athletes.
- Support students in planning, prioritising, and managing workload around training, competition, and travel schedules.
- Help students develop effective study habits, revision plans, and assessment preparation strategies.
- Liaise with teaching staff, academy coaches, and support teams to identify emerging challenges and coordinate interventions.
- Monitor academic progress, attendance, and wellbeing, escalating concerns when necessary.
- Promote a positive athlete–scholar mindset and encourage healthy routines, time management, and resilience.
- Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress reviews, and support plans.
What we are looking for:

- Experience competing or working within high-performance or elite sport environments.
- Strong understanding of the pressures and demands of a dual career (sport and academic commitments).
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and build rapport with young people.
- Strong communication skills and a supportive, student-centred approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage a small weekly caseload effectively.

- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting student-athletes.
- Knowledge of A-Level study expectations and education environments.
- Understanding of safeguarding and welfare considerations for young athletes.
- Relevant qualification in sport, education, psychology, mentoring, or a related field.
