We have an exciting opportunity for Sessional Learning Support Assistants to join our team at Loughborough College Group, based at Loughborough College. The Learning Support team is recruiting Assistants to provide high‑quality support to learners with identified learning difficulties and/or disabilities throughout the working week, Monday‑Friday 08:45‑16:30. You will support learners across a range of courses from Entry level to Level 3 / A Level who have learning difficulties and disabilities. This includes Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, hearing, visual and physical impairments.
Responsibilities
- Support learners in a sensitive, professional, discreet and confidential manner.
- Encourage personal and academic independence, self‑empowerment and self‑help skills wherever possible.
- Contribute to the development of individual learning programmes in liaison with Support Coordinators and course tutors.
- Ensure that learners are receiving the appropriate level of support and report any issues to the Support Coordinators.
- Provide in‑class and online support to individuals and groups of learners, including notetaking, assisting with personal care and mobility support.
- Offer the successful candidates the opportunity to undertake further training where identified.
Qualifications
- At least 12 months of experience working with young people.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- At least a Level 2 qualification, GCSE grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- A flexible and can‑do approach; committed to teamwork.
- A positive approach towards all learners.
- Excellent communication skills that enable effective work with a range of students and staff.
