The Leicestershire College is looking to recruit a Legal Officer to join a small and friendly team in the Governance & Legal Services department. The post holder will carry out routine legal work including drafting and reviewing contracts, mainly for the College’s contracted provision (to include subcontracting‑in, subcontracting‑out, all commercial contracts, HE, International and Apprenticeship contracts). The postholder will also provide governance support where required, including clerking governor meetings, and will assist with data protection, freedom of information, complaints, and appeals.

You will have a thorough understanding of contract law, either through a law degree or GDL, or another degree‑level qualification covering contract law. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and negotiation skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, and who can work closely with staff at all levels of the College.

Responsibilities Of This Role Include:

  • Preparing contracts and managing in‑year changes to contracts
  • Prepare and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
  • Providing timely and reliable internal advice on contracts and legal issues
  • Supporting College governance
