As we continue to elevate our capabilities and global presence, we are seeking a Material Handling Team Leader to join our dynamic Supply team at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Norwich.

Summary: To provide support, encouragement, and direction to the relevant team members. Ensure goods received on site are booked in correctly, safely stored and distributed to the correct location in the required time frame. Ensure process adherence for the area of work, while monitoring safe working practices to reduce any incidents or near misses. Contribute and oversee the implementation of any 5S and continual improvements within the department. This role has the potential to grow as departmental targets expand and develop with new products planned in the coming years. Training will be given to enhance and develop the skills of the individual and the Material Handling team so that Manufacturing receives a premium service.

What you'll do:

  • Support and encouragement for the team to ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Provide effective handovers to other team members / shifts.
  • Daily allocation of tasks and organisation of absence cover.
  • Deputise for the Supervisor in their absence when required.
  • Reporting of personnel and any work-related issues to the Supervisor / Manager.
  • Ensuring the team are adhering to our Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Plan job rotation to encourage individual and team flexibility.
  • Ensure goods are received, booked in and routed correctly.
  • Movement of materials within the factories as required in a safe manner.
  • Accurate location of material in appropriate storage / locations.
  • Safe operation of Forklift and Man up Narrow Aisle, Tow Tugs, Lift Stackers and powered pallet Trucks required within the role.
  • Maintenance of Inventory with respect to stock quantity and location accuracy.
  • Issue of material from store all other locations be it internal or external.
  • Be flexible to work across all logistics functions.
  • Working within Safety Guidelines (including the movement of Dangerous Goods).

What you'll bring:

  • GCSE Math's and English (or equivalent).
  • Organised, flexible, attention to detail, team player, right first-time pro-active approach, good communicator, leadership skills.
  • Experience in a material handling role within manufacturing / stores environment.
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must have a proven record of leading a team. Good Health and Good Attendance Record.

Desirable:

  • ONC or above in Engineering / Supply Chain related subjects.
  • NVQ in Warehouse or Logistics.
  • Experience of Despatching, Logistics/Warehousing/Prototype in a Car Manufacturing company.
  • Use of Warehousing Management systems.
  • Experience in Logistics/Stores/Manufacturing operations in automotive industry.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels from senior management to production workers.
  • Licence for Mechanical Handling Equipment.
