About the Role

Lotus Recruitment are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-run Secondary school in Merseyside, Liverpool, who are seeking an organised and proactive Attendance Officer to join their team. This is a key role within the school, supporting students, staff and families to ensure excellent attendance and punctuality. The successful candidate will play an important part in monitoring student attendance, identifying patterns of absence and working closely with pastoral teams and parents to improve attendance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record daily student attendance using the school’s MIS system (Arbor)
  • Follow up on unexplained absences with parents and carers
  • Produce attendance reports for senior leadership and pastoral teams
  • Work with families to support improved attendance and punctuality
  • Identify patterns of persistent absence and escalate where appropriate
  • Liaise with external agencies where required
  • Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and school policies
  • Support the wider administration team when required

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working in a school office or attendance role is highly desirable
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Confident communicating with parents, staff and external agencies
  • Experience using school systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom is an advantage
  • Understanding of safeguarding and attendance procedures within schools
  • Calm, professional and able to handle sensitive situations with discretion
