HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) - SEN Experience Required
South London Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity £110 - £140 per day (dependent on experience)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist school in South London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school.
Working closely with teachers and the SEN team, you will lead small group interventions, deliver pre-planned lessons, and provide targeted support for students with a range of special educational needs.
The setting supports pupils with needs including
- Autism (ASC)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
- ADHD
- Speech and Language Difficulties
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Additional complex needs
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lessons and learning activities in the absence of the teacher.
- Lead intervention groups and targeted academic support sessions.
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.
- Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management.
- Work closely with teaching staff to monitor progress and implement support strategies.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Contribute to EHCP targets and pupil development plans.
- The Ideal Candidate
- HLTA qualification or significant experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience working within an SEN school, alternative provision, or specialist setting.
- Strong understanding of Autism, SEMH, and additional learning needs.
- Confident leading small groups and delivering learning activities independently.
- Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
- Patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting vulnerable learners.
