Lotus Recruitment is seeking compassionate, resilient and dependable Residential Care Workers to support children and young people aged 8 to 18 with SEMH needs and autism. You will help create a safe, stable and nurturing home environment while supporting young people with their emotional wellbeing, independence, education and daily routines.
The role:
- Supporting children and young people with their daily routines and personal development
- Building positive and trusting relationships
- Helping young people manage challenging situations and regulate their emotions
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive choices
- Supporting activities, appointments and community visits
- Maintaining accurate records and completing handovers
- Following safeguarding procedures and individual care plans
Working pattern:
- 40.5 hour contracted working week
- Three 13.5 hour shifts each week
- Two week rotating rota
- You must be available to work every other weekend
- You must be available for on call duties twice per month
Essential requirements:
- You must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to drive
- You must have the right to work in the UK
- Sponsorship is not available for this position
- You must be able to work the full shift pattern, including every other weekend
- You must be comfortable supporting children with SEMH needs, autism and behaviours that may challenge
- You must be patient, emotionally resilient and committed to safeguarding children
Previous experience in residential care, children’s services, education, youth work, mental health or support work would be beneficial, although transferable experience will also be considered. All successful applicants will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
