The Opportunity: We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to own the design experience across our Marketplace product — the end-to-end journey families take when searching, comparing, and finding care for a loved one. It's a high-stakes, emotionally complex experience, and design is one of the primary ways we earn trust at every step of it. You’ll work closely with your Product Manager and Engineering lead as a genuine co‑creator — shaping problem definition, not just executing briefs. You’ll bring strong craft and sharp product instinct, and you’ll be someone who’s moving toward lead level and wants the ownership that comes with that trajectory.

What does this role involve?

  • Own the end-to-end design quality of Marketplace — search, results, listings, comparison, and enquiry flows.
  • Partner with your PM from problem inception; shape briefs, challenge assumptions, and bring evidence to product decisions.
  • Work across a high‑stakes domain where accessibility, trust signals, information hierarchy, and emotional context are all live design problems.
  • Contribute to the design system with patterns and components that scale beyond your own work stream.

What problems will you be solving?

  • Families searching for care are making one of the hardest decisions of their lives — often under time pressure, with limited information, and high emotional stakes. How do you design an experience that earns trust at every step?
  • The Marketplace is a complex, multi-state product. Search, results, listings, comparison, enquiry — each with its own UX challenges. How do you hold quality across all of it without losing coherence?
  • Information hierarchy is genuinely hard here. Care home profiles contain a huge amount of data — pricing, availability, room types, reviews, accreditations. What do families actually need to see, and when?
  • We’re an AI-native team. How do you use AI tooling to prototype and iterate faster, without it flattening your craft or replacing your thinking?
  • We’re a small design team. How do you contribute patterns and components that scale beyond your own workstream and raise the bar for the whole product?

We think you’ll be a great fit if…

  • You have 4-6+ years of product design experience, ideally across marketplace, platform, or strong B2C products.
  • You’re genuinely excited about using AI to move faster — in prototyping, in iteration, in getting ideas in front of people sooner — without letting it flatten your craft or replace your thinking.
  • You’re a confident product thinker who engages with problems before reaching for solutions, and works with your PM rather than downstream of them.
  • You present design decisions with clarity and rationale — what you considered, what you ruled out, and why.
  • You have a portfolio that shows both craft rigour and systemic thinking — visual language work alongside complex UX problem-solving.
  • You care about the domain; you don’t need a background in care, but you need to take it seriously.
  • You’re ambitious and moving toward lead — you want ownership and aren’t waiting to be told what to do.

This role isn’t for you if…

  • You need clear boundaries between design and product — our PMs prototype, our designers use AI tools to make changes directly in the product, and we think that's a feature, not a bug.
  • You’re most comfortable executing briefs rather than helping to shape them.
  • You’re not drawn to products that carry real weight in people's lives.
  • You’re uncomfortable working closely with PMs and Engineers from the earliest stages of problem definition.
  • You’re not at ease working in a fast‑paced, high‑growth startup environment.

Sound like you but not quite 100%? Apply anyway — we’re looking for potential and passion, not a perfect CV match. We want to create an inclusive environment that celebrates the diversity of our people whilst enabling them to do the best work of their careers. We are committed to ensuring that all our people processes are equitable. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran, neurodiversity status or disability status. If you require reasonable accommodations during the application or interview process, please let us know at Alice.Rooke@lottie.org
