Finance Assistant Intern

Department: Finance, Reporting to Finance Lead

Salary: £30,000 (pro-rated)

Contract: Six week paid internship, with the intention to hire permanently. Full benefits - including EMI share options, ACCA sponsorship start when you go permanent.

Holiday: 26 days + bank holidays (pro rated).

The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the very start of their career, eager to build a career in finance and become a qualified accountant. You don’t need any formal work experience. This is a six week paid internship, and we're running it with the intention of hiring permanently at the end of it. We're looking for someone who's ready to start their career now and can commit full time going forward. If you're proactive, you want real ownership over your work, and you genuinely get excited about using AI and tech to make things better and faster - this role is perfect for you. You’ll work directly with experienced professionals who’ve built finance functions in fast growing startups, learning from their expertise while gaining hands‑on experience across all areas of Finance operations. We’ll sponsor you through your ACCA qualification, giving you a structured pathway to becoming a well‑rounded finance professional.

What does this role involve?

• Accounts Receivable Collections: Learn the AR collection process end-to-end and take ownership of it, driving continuous improvement on key metrics (DSO - how long invoices take to get paid - and past due aging). Work directly with partners and cross‑functional teams to resolve payment issues. Own and optimise our Collections Management system (Chaser).
• Finance Operations & Onboarding: Handle daily finance admin such as our inbox and issuing credit notes. Onboard partners to our systems for accurate billing and support on VAT returns.
• Accounts Payable Management: Process invoices, review for policy compliance, help keep the approval workflow moving and make sure the right checks happen.
• Support Month-End Close Activities: Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations, post journal entries, and ensure accurate financial records to support a timely month-end close and financial reporting.
• Process Improvement and Automation Initiatives: Collaborate with the wider finance and operations teams to identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls. Evaluate manual workflows and recommend automation solutions with use of technology and AI tools.
• Assisting with ad-hoc finance projects, reports and analysis as needed.

• Cash Flow & Collections: Help build a better system to optimise how we chase invoices and get cash arriving faster.
• Month-End Close Efficiency: Protect the speed of month-end close by spotting bottlenecks and automating manual work.
