The Role
We are advertising for an Investment Analyst (IA) to join our Real Asset’s team within Investments on a permanent basis. The role will focus on undertaking research to develop the investment knowledge and capability required to support the investment management team. They will be responsible for monitoring the Fund’s real asset portfolios, cash flows and performance, and will provide data and analysis to assist investment decision-makers. Responsible for various tasks that support the Chief Investment Officer, Investment Heads and Portfolio Managers, who manage the investment portfolio(s) of Lothian Pension Fund (LPF) and any portfolios under LPFI Limited’s management.
- Undertake research projects on existing and potential investments. This may involve analysis of individual assets, or of macro strategy.
- Undertake due diligence as required and acquire expertise through detailed examination of the underlying drivers of future returns for assets, including Responsible Investment considerations, to make clear investment recommendations to relevant Portfolio Managers (PMs) or Investment Groups (IGs) and other senior LPF staff.
- Liaise with the accounting team and external suppliers to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data upon which investment decisions are based, and with the legal, risk and compliance team to ensure that investments and portfolios are implemented in accordance with the appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks and LPF’s own guidelines, including its responsible investment policy, which involves company and external manager engagement and voting.
- Report verbally and in writing to PMs and IGs, and the Joint Investment Forum (JIF) and other stakeholders, including partner Funds.
- Provide support to the investment team, the investment operations team, the accounting team and LPFI Limited’s clients.
What experience are we looking for?
The following requirements are essential for this role:
- Prior experience as an Investment Analyst, or a closely related role.
- Previous experience within real assets is desirable.
- Full CFA qualification is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of Microsoft suite of software, especially Word and Excel.
- Degree level qualification desirable and strong academic record essential.
- Clean basic vetting checks.
