Female personal assistant (PA) required to support a young person with profound learning disabilities, autism and epilepsy who uses a wheelchair full-time and lives in Longniddry. The young woman has a wicked sense of humour, is fun, bubbly and sociable and is looking for a kindred spirit to help her live life to the full.

This could involve helping her to get to youth club on a Thursday night, staying in to enjoy music, messing about on the iPad or going out to swimming and other leisure activities. The PA will need to support the young person with emotional regulation and personal care. There is some moving and assisting in the post as the young person uses a stand aid. Experience of care would be useful.

Postholder must be cat and dog friendly. It is essential that the PA have a full driving licence valid in the UK to drive the young person’s Motability car and either must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme or willing to join.

The post consists of two shifts per week, one on Wednesday for three hours occurring between 1100 and 1700 (employer can be flexible with times) and Thursday from 1830 to 2100. There will also be an additional 144 hours per year to be used flexibly for respite. This will include a few 24-hour shifts plus some evening work. Dates and times to be negotiated.

Rate of pay is £12.80 per hour.
