We are currently recruiting a part-time Independent Living Officer to join our dedicated and supportive team.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

• Knowledge of Self-Directed Support, direct payments, Personal Assistant arrangements and independent living services.
• Experience of providing advice, information and one-to-one support to individuals, carers or families.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and support people to make informed decisions.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload while maintaining accurate records.
• A commitment to the Social Model of Disability, equality, inclusion and person-led approaches to support.

You will be confident working with Disabled people, individuals with long-term health conditions, older people, carers and families, supporting them to understand their rights, access services and develop independent living.

The role includes supporting people who employ Personal Assistants, providing guidance on recruitment, employment responsibilities and accessing the resources needed to manage their support effectively. You will also work collaboratively with partner organisations, statutory services and colleagues across LCIL to help deliver high-quality, person-centred support.

Following initial training in our Edinburgh office, you will work flexibly across office, home and outreach settings, helping people achieve greater choice, control and independence in daily lives.
