We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll & Pensions Assistant to join our Payroll team and support the delivery of accurate payroll and pension administration services to our workforce.
The Role
As a Payroll & Pensions Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while supporting the effective administration of workplace pension schemes. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will maintain employee records, process payroll and pension changes, respond to queries, and help ensure compliance with payroll legislation and pension regulations.
Key Responsibilities Payroll
- Support the preparation and processing of payrolls within agreed deadlines.
- Process employee changes including new starters, leavers, salary amendments and deductions.
- Assist with the calculation of overtime, allowances, absence payments and statutory payments.
- Produce and reconcile payroll reports, investigating any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and respond to payroll-related enquiries from employees and managers.
Pensions
- Administer pension enrolments, opt-outs, contribution changes and leavers.
- Support the administration of workplace pension schemes in line with scheme rules and auto-enrolment legislation.
- Maintain accurate pension records and assist with pension audits and reviews.
- Respond to pension enquiries, providing professional and timely support to employees.
About You
We're looking for someone with:
- Previous payroll experience, ideally within a medium or large organisation.
- A strong understanding of payroll processes, legislation and payroll reconciliations.
- Knowledge of workplace pensions, including auto-enrolment, contributions, opt-ins and opt-outs.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience handling confidential employee and financial information.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
