We are looking for a Backshift Mechanic to join our busy Engineering Department at one of our City Garages!

This is a permanent role for a fully qualified mechanic with experience. You will be working 4days over 7 backshift, 37.5 hours per week.

What will you be doing?

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all types of vehicles to Lothian & DVSA standards
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults, mechanical and electrical
  • Use diagnostic equipment and software to locate, diagnose and rectify faults on mechanical and electrical components
  • Understand the fundamentals of existing and emerging mechanical and electrical designs and systems
  • Attending vehicle breakdowns as and when required
  • Liaise with the parts department to obtain correct parts
  • Ensure health & safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Ensure all paperwork and inspection sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses as required

Who are we looking for?

  • You must possess a full UK driving licence
  • You must be a time served motor vehicle mechanic
  • A PCV licence is desirable, however the ability to obtain a PCV licence whilst in our employment is essential
  • An aptitude to develop others within the engineering team to improve efficiencies
  • Ability to work under pressure and work as part of a team
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • Experience of working in the truck or bus industry would be advantageous
