As a Ward Housekeeper, you will work as an integral part of the team ensuring the clinical teams are supported in delivering care, including:

  • Keeping the unit neat, tidy, uncluttered, and well presented.
  • Maintaining daily stock of clinical supplies and ensuring equipment is clean and maintained.
  • Serving patients beverages and assisting patients with food preparation and feeding, ensuring the patients receive meals appropriate to their needs.
  • Escorting patients to and from hospice if required.
  • Maintaining high cleaning standards across all areas by following schedules, managing laundry and linen, and ensuring the unit—including patient areas, sluice, utility rooms, stores, and equipment—is safe, tidy, and well‑maintained while working within own competence.
  • Supporting a safe environment by preparing patient areas with the Domestic team after discharge, cleaning and preparing beds, logging and coordinating repairs for beds and mattresses, ensuring equipment is safely stored and in good working order, and arranging repairs in line with policy.
  • Managing ward supplies by ordering, restocking, rotating stock, and maintaining clinical supplies, while also assisting with laundry, coordinating staff lockers and uniforms, and reporting any incidents involving patients, visitors, or volunteers.

The successful applicant will have proven experience of working with people and dealing with them in a caring, sensitive manner. Good communication skills and the ability to work both as an effective team member and on your own initiative are essential.
