I am working with a leading material handling company seeking an exceptional Head of Rental & Used Equipment to lead and transform a key revenue-generating business function. This is a high-profile leadership opportunity where you will own the strategy, performance and growth of the Rental Fleet Management, Short-Term Hire and Used Equipment businesses, delivering ambitious financial targets while driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

The Opportunity

As Head of Rental & Used Equipment, you will develop and execute the UK strategy for company-owned rental and used equipment assets, ensuring profitable growth across multiple sales channels. You will be responsible for maximising asset utilisation, improving fleet availability, optimising inventory levels and creating innovative pricing strategies that drive revenue and margin performance. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations teams, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of the rental and used equipment proposition while building a highly efficient operational centre of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Rental Fleet Management, Short-Term Hire and Used Equipment functions.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive rental and used equipment strategy that drives sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Deliver financial and operational KPIs, ensuring strong commercial performance across all sales channels.
  • Design and implement dynamic pricing models to maximise utilisation, revenue and margin.
  • Optimise fleet structure, inventory management and asset availability.
  • Improve equipment turnaround times and operational throughput across workshop and warehouse operations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer needs to ensure a market-leading proposition.
  • Prepare annual business plans, forecasts and investment proposals.
  • Champion health, safety and employee wellbeing across the function.

About You

You are an experienced senior leader with a proven track record of delivering growth within a rental, fleet, asset-based, equipment, or wider B2B commercial environment. You will bring:

  • Strong commercial acumen with expertise in pricing, forecasting, utilisation and profitability management.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams through change and growth.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to translate strategic goals into measurable business results.
  • A customer-focused mindset combined with analytical and operational excellence.

Degree-level education in Business, Economics or a related discipline (preferred). Experience within material handling equipment, industrial equipment, fleet management or a similar sector would be advantageous.

  • Base Salary: Up to £100,000
  • Company Car
  • Annual Bonus: Up to 20% of base salary
