6 month contract - Investment Banking

Our industry leading investment banking client is looking for a trade validation transformation Desk Captain to join our FICC Derivatives desk.

Purpose, scope and responsibilities:

  • The role is part of the Trade Validation department, reporting directly to the Global Head of FICC Derivatives Trade Validation.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting the strategy and objectives of the Value Chains; ensuring strong governance and management of Production, improvement initiatives and key projects globally.
  • Implementation of Weekly Governance review of Global KPI/KRI across all FICC Products (Rates, Credit, FX, Commodities) with Managers/SMEs.
  • Analysis and Preparation of materials for review, summarising key risk and performance with Global Head.
  • Ensure that data in reports/presented in dashboards is accurate and review quality issues with Technology or BAU MO teams where relevant.
  • Contribute to the development of Automated KPI/KRI in PowerBI.
  • Implement global governance for Power across all operations users and wider FICC Derivatives topics on other systems.
  • Implement global governance for Technology BOW items across all operations users and wider FICC Derivatives topics on other systems.
  • Prepare information for review, summarising key JIRA or arbitrations with Global Head.
  • Review and record all operational incidents on FICC Derivatives Scope; ensuring write ups and action plans are consistent and accurate.
  • Own governance to ensure incidents are reviewed with global teams; so actions and risks are consistently implemented.
  • Co-Ordination of Global SMEs to ensure project updates, individual BOW items are tracked and shared with wider community.
  • Promote the team work ethic, dynamic and attitude through effective collaboration.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

  • Typically requires a university degree as an indicator of an ability to understand and apply complex theoretical concepts, although may have progressed into the role via equivalent business experience in a top tier investment bank or similar.
  • Relevant Master’s degree desirable.
  • Experts in one or more FICC products and trade support processes, systems and trade processing workflow on all levels of trade complexity with a working knowledge of other asset classes.
  • Demonstrable experience in implementing Production and Change governance framework and reporting to Senior Management Stakeholders.
  • Experience in operational roles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of operational risk and permanent control framework.
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritise workload and escalate issues to management.
  • Knowledge of company-wide policies, procedures, regulations and legislation and understanding of operational risk and permanent control framework.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate technical concepts and provide specialist guidance and advice to others.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise independently.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail and able to review and improve work of more junior colleagues.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills to articulate technical issues; to be able to take the complex and make simple; to enable effective communication with the business.
  • Good Stakeholders management skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Computer literacy and a good knowledge of standard computer software and able to learn and utilise specialist applications appropriately.
