Location: Perth (site-based with hybrid elements)

Rate: £400 per day (Umbrella)

Clearance: BPSS required

Travel: Frequent travel to sites across the region

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a utilities client delivering a major network infrastructure and migration programme across multiple operational sites. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on Project Engineer / Senior Field Support Officer to play a key role in large-scale Meraki network deployments, working within a structured programme environment.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for supporting the rollout and migration of network infrastructure across multiple sites. This role combines network engineering, field support, and desktop deployment, requiring a self-sufficient engineer who is comfortable working in live environments and managing on-site activities independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Infrastructure & Migration
    • Repatch and reconnect devices to new Meraki switches across site migrations
    • Carry out structured cabling, patch panel work, and cable management
    • Validate and troubleshoot network connectivity post-migration
    • Identify and escalate infrastructure or capacity issues on site
  • Desktop Support & Device Configuration
    • Configure PCs and laptops including domain joining and network setup
    • Provide on-site desktop support during and after migrations
    • Support first logon and ensure LAN connectivity is established
    • Maintain accurate records of devices configured and deployed
  • Project Delivery
    • Work within a structured programme team, providing progress updates
    • Coordinate with site stakeholders to minimise disruption
    • Complete migration documentation and sign-off reports
    • Raise risks, issues, and blockers proactively
    • Collaborate with third-party engineers and vendors on site

Skills & Experience

  • Essential
    • Experience in field support, desktop support, or network engineering roles
    • Strong hands-on experience with:
      • Structured cabling & patching
      • Rack installation / network hardware
      • Knowledge of network switching (Cisco Meraki highly desirable)
      • Experience configuring Windows PCs in a domain environment
      • Ability to work independently across multiple sites
      • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
      • Full UK driving licence
    • Desirable
      • Experience in utilities, energy, or critical infrastructure environments
      • Familiarity with:
        • Cisco Meraki dashboard
        • SD-WAN / ZTNA / Cato Networks
        • Experience in technology refresh or migration programmes
        • CCNA (or equivalent)

    Additional Information

    This is a primarily site-based role with some hybrid flexibility for admin and coordination tasks. Regular travel to operational sites is required. Occasional out-of-hours work may be needed for planned migrations. Candidates must be eligible to pass BPSS clearance.
