About the role

Day-to-day, the role involves consulting with clients to identify where they can make cost savings within their IT spend. This includes analysing spend data, understanding what software or services they're purchasing, and advising on opportunities such as supplier consolidation or improved contracting arrangements.

The work involves going into client environments to run discovery activity, understand spend patterns and advise on where efficiencies can be delivered. The role is not contract management, instead it focuses on strategic cost reduction, problem‐solving and influencing senior stakeholders. The team has a strong pipeline of work across public sector clients. Travel may be required depending on client demand, although the exact location is flexible for the right person.

This role sits within a team that values long‐term commitment, stability, and finding someone who will integrate well. The nature of the work requires someone with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and persuade them to adopt savings recommendations.

Essential experience

  • Must have knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023
  • Strong understanding of IT spend categories and where savings can realistically be achieved.
  • Clear, demonstrable experience delivering IT cost savings (this should be evident on your CV).
  • Ability to analyse spend data, spot trends and inefficiencies, and convert insights into savings opportunities.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders, including the ability to challenge constructively and influence outcomes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — able to build rapport quickly and guide clients through change.

Desirable experience

  • Consultancy background (highly preferred, though not essential if commercial mindset and soft skills are strong).
  • Experience working in health, transport or related public sector environments.
  • Background in large‐scale savings programmes, IT category management or commercial transformation roles.
