The organisation is delivering a multiâyear transformation of its European finance systems, centred around the implementation of Workday Financials and supporting enterprise technologies. The Solution Architect will act as the technical and architectural lead, shaping the endâtoâend solution design, aligning technology decisions with enterprise standards, and ensuring consistent and robust architecture across the programme.
This role collaborates closely with Enterprise Architecture, programme delivery teams, business stakeholders, IT governance forums and external partners. It is responsible for developing highâquality architecture artefacts, managing design decisions, and ensuring solutions meet regulatory, security and operational resilience requirements (including DORA).
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate all solution architecture activities across the Workday Financials Programme.
- Create and maintain highâlevel and detailed architecture documentation.
- Develop and assess solution options, ensuring alignment with target architecture, technical strategy and governance principles.
- Manage key design decisions and ensure they are fully documented and approved.
- Oversee architecture governance, representing the programme at Architecture Review Boards (ARB), CAB and other committees.
- Monitor architecture risks, issues and dependencies, providing escalating as required.
- Provide architectural leadership across integration design, technology platforms, and crossâprogramme alignment.
- Maintain target and transitionâstate roadmaps for the European Finance Systems architecture.
- Ensure solutions meet regulatory and security requirements, including DORA, IT controls, data protection and incident reporting standards.
- Provide technical oversight during delivery, ensuring build aligns to approved design.
- Strong business and systems analysis & design capabilities.
- Enterprise and Solution Architecture expertise (TOGAF, BCS or similar).
- Deep technical experience across Microsoft Azure, .NET, Entra ID, M365.
- Strong integration architecture knowledge â REST APIs, file transfer, web services, ESB, middleware.
- Experience designing architecture across core business systems, HR/Finance platforms, and data/BI technologies.
- Solid background in infrastructure, security, ITSM (ITIL) and IT governance (e.g., COBIT).
- Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate complex architecture to senior and technical audiences.
- Experience delivering architecture for multiâcountry regulated environments.
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect in Finance Transformation programmes.
- Workday Financials or major ERP (SAP, Oracle, D365) solution architecture background.
- Hands-on experience with integrations between Workday and enterprise systems (APIs, middleware, legacy).
- Experience delivering architecture for large-scale transformation programmes.
