My client is looking for a Head of Pensions to lead a specialist team responsible for delivering complex GMP related services to UK Defined Benefit pension scheme clients. This role oversees all aspects of actuarial, reconciliation, equalisation, and rectification project delivery, ensuring excellence, efficiency, and innovation across multiple client engagements.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping service standards, mentoring highly skilled pensions professionals, and driving continuous improvement in processes, propositions, and client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and develop a multi‑disciplinary team of actuarial and pensions technical specialists.
  • Provide expert guidance on pensions technical matters, scheme valuations, legislative changes, and investment or administration topics.
  • Influence and develop policies, methodologies, and processes relating to occupational pension scheme management.
  • Contribute to new business activity, including client pitches and proposition development.
  • Manage operational budgets, financial forecasting, and resource planning to meet business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, including Boards and Trustees, as well as with internal stakeholders.
Essential Experience & Skills:
  • Proven track record of managing and developing a technical pensions team.
  • Strong technical understanding and hands‑on experience in the GMP space.
  • Experience managing a team working on multiple client projects.
  • Commercial acumen with experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Confident client‑facing skills and the ability to engage effectively at senior stakeholder level.
