Lorien is seeking a Telecommunications Obsolescence Lead to join our client and provide support on an estate obsolescence programme to address the withdrawal of their legacy PSTN/ISDN services across the UK and the ageing telephony platforms deployed throughout their infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own and govern telephony obsolescence risk mitigation decisions across operational sites.
  • Define and approve acceptable telephony solutions (legacy, SIP/IP, hybrid or cloud) on a site‑by‑site basis.
  • Drive progressive verification of the telephony estate and maintain a prioritised site‑level risk view.
  • Act as the senior technical counterparty to carriers, integrators, and telephony vendors.
  • Challenge supplier proposals to ensure solutions are safe, operable, and proportionate.
  • Work closely with a Connectivity Delivery Manager to align sequencing, cutovers, and dependencies.

Key experience:

  • Senior background in enterprise or industrial telecommunications.
  • Proven PSTN/ISDN withdrawal, PBX retirement, or large‑scale voice transitions.
  • Strong knowledge of PBX platforms (e.g. Avaya, Mitel), SIP, SBCs, media gateways, and resilience.
  • Experience working in operational, safety‑critical, or regulated environments.
