Lorien's leading banking client is looking for an Application Support Engineer to join them. This role is within the Rates and Credit eTrading Application Production team in London, part of the APS Flow and Digital group (Application Production & Support).
All team members are expected to quickly develop, or already have, a good understanding of eTrading systems (not necessarily Rates and Credit asset classes). The team is responsible for supporting globally the ION platform, in-house pricing applications, algorithmic trading components, and STP for Rates and Credit businesses.
The ideal candidate will have strong skills and experience in:
- Windows and Linux
- Scripting
- Jenkins
- Networking
Responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day management of production: monitoring, capacity management, problem resolution activities, change management.
- Efficient resolution of issues to minimise impact to clients and internal users, including liaising with end users, development teams, management, vendors, and other internal IT teams.
- Assisting in the development, design, and implementation of technical support systems.
- Performing activities related to implementation and rollout for upgrades of existing services.
- Working closely with development teams, business analysts, architects, and all infrastructure teams to design and set up new systems, improve existing platforms (resilience, high availability, performance, low latency).
Required skills:
- Excellent Linux and Windows OS proficiency
- Strong all-around IT background and proven experience in electronic trading markets in similar environments
- Ability to analyse Memory, CPU, NIC/Network, Multicast usage/data
- One or more of: PowerShell, Shell, Python, SQL
- Good server, network, and firewall infrastructure understanding
- Application support experience with Java, C++, .NET knowledge
- Project management skills to deliver medium scale projects
- Ability to tune operating systems platforms for optimum performance
- Monitoring (Geneos/Zabbix)
- Capable of prioritising tasks and multi-tasking projects
- Flexible and adaptable to new environments.
