Hybrid Working – London – 2‑3 days a week on site. Lorien’s leading banking client is looking for an experienced iNet Engineer to join the expanding team on a contract basis. Reporting to the UK iNet Team Leader, the iNet Level 3 Engineer is responsible for the technical support of technologies that sit above the network layer. Support is provided to the bank between 07:30 – 19:30 Monday to Friday. The iNet Level 3 engineer acts as the escalation point for technical issues regarding iNet technology platforms and works jointly with other infrastructure teams to deliver projects and implement required changes. The ideal candidate comes from an infrastructure‑security background with experience in a real‑time/mission‑critical environment within a regulated sector (trading, banking, streaming, gambling, defence, etc.). This role is based in London and will operate via an umbrella contractor.
Key Skills and Experience
- General knowledge of Checkpoint Firewall‑1, R81.10 or higher running on ClusterXL high‑availability configurations.
- Fortinet Firewall – general knowledge of Fortinet OS 7.2+ running on high‑availability configurations.
- SkyHigh Web Gateway 12+ and Bluecoat 7.X proxy software.
- F5 Big IP – Load Traffic Manager & GTM. General knowledge of LTM/GTM appliances running V16 or higher.
- Infoblox DNS/DHCP. General knowledge of DNS, DHCP and IPAM IP management.
- Monitoring tools – general knowledge of monitoring tools and SNMP alert configuration.
Day‑to‑Day Technical Responsibilities
- Firewalls troubleshooting – identify FW issues related to access policy, NAT rules and routing when troubleshooting connectivity problems.
- Firewall system maintenance and lifecycle management – code upgrades and hardware replacements.
- Firewall VPN connections – setup and troubleshooting.
- F5 Local Traffic Manager & GTM administration and troubleshooting.
- Perform troubleshooting for internet browsing issues, separating potential proxy problems from desktop/client issues.
- Proxy whitelist/blacklist administration.
- DNS record management – creation, deletion and updates.
- DHCP scope lease management.
- Perform morning and evening system checks for iNet systems.
- Maintain alert configuration on monitoring systems, updating SNMP parameters when required.
- Correlate physical items with asset inventories.
- Update system documentation & technical diagrams when required.
- Escalate risks and issues to line management.
