Head of Group Financial Reporting

Role: Head of Group Financial Reporting
Engagement: 2 Moth contract with potential to extend
Location: UK wide with travel to site when required

Overview

We are supporting a leading Insurance and Financial Services organisation in the search for an experienced Head of Group Financial Reporting to provide leadership during a critical reporting period.

The successful candidate will support Half-Year (HY) Reporting, Financial & Regulatory (F&R) reporting activities, and preparation for the Q3 reporting cycle.

This senior contract opportunity requires a highly experienced finance leader with deep technical accounting expertise, strong stakeholder management capabilities, and a proven track record delivering high-quality reporting within a regulated financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Group Financial Reporting activities across Half-Year reporting, Financial & Regulatory reporting requirements, and Q3 preparation.
  • Provide technical accounting oversight and guidance on complex accounting and reporting matters.
  • Review, challenge and approve key accounting judgements, assumptions and disclosures.
  • Ensure the accuracy, quality and timeliness of all regulatory, statutory and management reporting deliverables.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Actuarial, Risk and Executive stakeholders to ensure alignment across reporting outputs.
  • Manage reporting governance and maintain an effective control environment throughout the reporting cycle.
  • Support executive decision-making through the provision of robust financial insight and analysis.
  • Drive reporting improvements and contribute to reporting transformation initiatives where required.
  • Oversee consolidation processes and support enhancements to reporting architecture and operating models.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Significant Financial Services experience, ideally within Life Insurance, Pensions or a broader Insurance environment.
  • Extensive experience leading statutory, regulatory and management reporting functions.
  • Exceptional technical accounting knowledge and understanding of reporting governance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to operate at senior leadership level and influence executive stakeholders.
  • Strong track record of managing critical reporting cycles and delivering under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working within reporting change or finance transformation programmes.
  • Exposure to consolidation architecture and reporting process optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory reporting obligations within insurance and pensions organisations.
  • Experience collaborating with actuarial teams and interpreting actuarial inputs into financial reporting outputs.
