The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced
Digital Workplace Lead Engineer to join a major Retail Banking organisation on a 6-month contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery and evolution of a modern digital workplace, driving employee productivity, collaboration, and security across a large-scale enterprise environment.
You will provide technical leadership across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity services, workplace security, and automation initiatives while supporting key transformation programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering, implementation, and optimisation of Microsoft 365 services including Teams, Share Point Online, One Drive, Exchange Online, and Viva.
- Own and enhance endpoint management capabilities using Intune, Windows Autopilot, and modern device lifecycle management practices.
- Drive identity, access, and security initiatives leveraging Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, and Microsoft Defender technologies.
- Develop automation solutions and service improvements using Power Shell, Microsoft Graph, and the Power Platform.
- Provide technical leadership on workplace transformation programmes, platform upgrades, and strategic technology initiatives.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, Service Management, and business stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable workplace solutions.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues and provide mentoring to engineering and support teams.
- Ensure platforms operate in line with regulatory, risk, and security requirements expected within a banking environment.
- Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience across Microsoft 365 technologies including Teams, Share Point Online, Exchange Online, One Drive, and Viva.
- Extensive experience administering and engineering Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, Identity Governance, and Microsoft Defender.
- Advanced Power Shell scripting and automation experience.
- Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale digital workplace and end-user computing initiatives.
- Strong understanding of modern workplace security controls and best practices.
- Experience working within highly regulated environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience within the Banking or Financial Services sector is essential.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within Retail Banking environments.
- Exposure to Microsoft Graph API and Power Platform technologies.
- Knowledge of ITIL-based support and service management practices.
- Experience supporting workplace transformation and cloud migration programmes.
