Location – Reading
Duration – 6 months
This is for a large client based in Reading, with occasional travel to office.
Role / Principal Accountabilities:
- Work with key stakeholders throughout the whole infrastructure lifecycle, providing comprehensive support to transformation and modernisation of the estate.
- Act as a trusted advisor and bridge between the technology services team and stakeholders, provide regular progress updates, and flag any issues accordingly.
- Support stakeholders to adopt and leverage the latest architecture practices, delivering effective, resilient services designs.
- Provide leadership, coaching and development for the immediate team and act as an evangelist within the organisation for engineering practices.
- Partner with Product owners and management to manage and clearly articulate demand planning and delivery against the projected backlog and book of work.
- Continuous evolution of monitoring tools to ensure performance, availability and reliability of core infrastructure.
Skills & Experience Required:
- End to end understanding of infrastructure systems architecture and design.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of end-to-end product lifecycle, as well as how technical systems work and interact.
- Strong analytical skills and troubleshooting skills, with a solid understanding of operational support procedures.
- Strong communication skills to work with SI partners onshore and offshore.
Knowledge Required:
- Background in infrastructure engineering and delivery, supporting large scale infrastructure modernisation.
- Previous proven experience of a range of infrastructure platforms such as HyperV, VMWare, AIX.
- Experience of operating systems, including Linux, Unix, Windows.
- Experience of Microsoft Azure or AWS.
- Proficiency in infrastructure automation and orchestration with relevant tooling.
- Exposure to Configuration Management Solutions such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SCCM, Intune, ARC.
- Practical use and understanding of scripting languages.
- Knowledge of operating system fundamentals including diagnostics, tuning, and monitoring of IO, Networks, CPU and Memory.
Desirable Skills:
- SC clearance.
- Utilities experience.
- Exposure to container technology i.e. Docker, Kubernetes desirable but not essential.
- Awareness of security assurance and design best practices i.e. NIST or CIS.
