We are seeking a Vice President – Model Risk Governance (Surveillance) to join a leading Global Bank within its Ethics and Compliance function. This is a high-impact role sitting at the crossroads of model risk management, regulatory governance and market abuse surveillance, offering the opportunity to work with senior stakeholders across global teams. You will play a key role in strengthening governance frameworks, driving regulatory alignment and ensuring robust oversight across surveillance models used to detect market abuse.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the execution of model risk governance across surveillance frameworks
- Oversee model lifecycle controls, including reviews, risk ratings and issue remediation
- Ensure consistent application of governance standards across global surveillance teams
- Ensure alignment with internal policies and evolving global regulatory expectations
- Lead responses to regulatory and audit requests regarding model governance
- Enhance policies, procedures and controls to strengthen compliance
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Audit and the business
- Act as a key liaison between Model Risk Management (MRM) and surveillance teams
- Facilitate governance committees and support risk‑based decision making
- Deliver executive‑level reporting on model risk exposure and remediation progress
- Maintain transparent governance documentation and audit trails
- Ensure timely escalation of key risks and issues
- Drive innovation and improvements across governance processes
- Support automation and data‑led enhancements to reporting and oversight
- Challenge existing frameworks and contribute to broader model risk initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in model risk management, governance, or non‑financial risk within banking
- Strong understanding of the three lines of defence model
- Proven experience engaging with regulators and managing audit processes
- Knowledge of global regulatory expectations (e.g. PRA, ECB, FRB, OCC)
- Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence at senior levels
- Strong analytical and reporting skills (Excel, PowerPoint; Tableau/Power BI desirable)
- Experience driving governance enhancements or transformation initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, regulated environment
The Package
- Salary: Up to £85,000
- Bonus: 10‑15% discretionary bonus, based on company performance
- Pension: Employer contribution of 12% with no mandatory employee contribution
- Annual Leave: 26 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing to 28 days after 3 years and 30 days after 5 years’ service
