Glasgow or Dundee (Hybrid) £547 per day (Inside IR35) 3-month contract (with strong extension potential up to 17 months). We're working with a leading public sector organisation on a key cloud and platform services programme. They're looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to support complex environments, improve service delivery, and drive observability and DevOps capability.
The Role
This is a hands-on, senior position focused on maintaining high-performing cloud services while also improving processes and resolving complex issues. You'll be responsible for:
- Managing high-impact and complex change requests
- Ensuring release policies, processes, and controls are followed
- Reading and interacting with code in live environments
- Leading incident investigation and resolution
- Taking ownership of issues and proactively identifying risks
- Monitoring trends and patterns to resolve recurring problems
- Carrying out baseline repairs and system improvements
- Working closely with specialists to implement fixes and solutions
- Defining preventative measures to reduce future incidents
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation
- Identifying and driving process improvements and best practice
- Recommending appropriate tools and technologies
Key Skills & Experience (Essential)
We're looking for strong technical leadership combined with hands-on delivery:
- Proven ability to provide technical and business leadership to experienced engineering teams
- Deep knowledge of Cloud & DevOps tools, including: AWS, Jenkins, Terraform, Elasticsearch
- Experience defining and delivering observability roadmaps
- Track record of driving continuous service improvement
- Ability to challenge existing processes and implement more efficient, cost-effective solutions
- Strong focus on supporting modern, business-critical technologies
