Lorien is recruiting on behalf of a well-established corporate banking organisation for a senior origination hire in Scotland. This position suits a commercially minded business development specialist who can open doors, build credibility quickly, and convert prospects into long-term banking relationships. It’s a role with real visibility, meaningful growth headroom in the market, and a clear pathway into broader leadership over time.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Drive new-to-bank corporate origination across the region, working to regional performance targets.
  • Lead executive-level pitch activity with mid to large corporate businesses, confidently presenting a differentiated value proposition.
  • Partner closely with internal product and relationship specialists to shape, structure and progress opportunities through to completion.
  • Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline through targeted outreach, networking, introducer relationships and relevant market events.
  • Contribute to regional market strategy: identify priority sectors, track competitor activity and create actionable opportunities.
  • Operate with strong risk awareness and appropriate governance discipline when progressing opportunities.

What we’re looking for:

  • A proven track record in corporate/commercial banking origination or an adjacent corporate finance environment with clear new-business wins.
  • Confidence with proactive business development activity (including outbound calling, targeted lead generation and event/network-led origination).
  • Strong corporate finance literacy: able to interpret financial statements, discuss credit fundamentals and speak credibly about debt structuring.
  • Able to mentor and lead a team towards shared success.
  • Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and pitching to C-suite/exec audiences in a commercial, consultative manner.
  • Strong knowledge of the Scottish market with an existing network (or demonstrable ability to build one quickly).
  • Highly desirable experience working with introducers (e.g., professional services, corporate finance advisers) as part of a repeatable origination model.
  • Exposure to more complex funding requirements (e.g., growth funding, acquisition finance, structured solutions) and the ability to coordinate the right internal support.
  • Relevant qualifications (banking, finance or accounting) are beneficial, but strong evidence of performance is the priority.

What’s on offer:

  • Strong annual performance bonus with upside for high delivery.
  • Car allowance and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Hybrid working and flexibility — a blend of office time, client meetings and regional market presence.
  • Clear progression runway — this level commonly feeds into broader leadership roles (for those who wish to progress to leadership, many remain within sales due to preference).
