One of Lorien's leading Public Sector clients is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team on an initial 12 month contract with a possible 12 month extension. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION WITH OCCASIONAL ON-SITE ATTENDANCE AS REQUIRED IN EDINBURGH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administering and supporting SQL Server environments across development, test and production.
  • Managing and optimising Azure Cosmos DB workloads for performance and scalability.
  • Identifying and resolving database performance issues impacting legacy systems.
  • Improving query performance, indexing strategies and reducing latency.
  • Implementing monitoring, alerting and capacity planning improvements.
  • Ensuring data security, access control and compliance with GDPR standards.
  • Supporting modernisation of data platforms and ongoing service improvements.

Key Skills Experience:

  • Strong SQL Server DBA experience within live production environments.
  • Proven expertise in performance tuning and resolving database bottlenecks.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB (including indexing and partitioning).
  • Understanding of HA/DR principles and database resilience.
