One of Lorien's leading Public Sector clients is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team on an initial 12 month contract with a possible 12 month extension. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION WITH OCCASIONAL ON-SITE ATTENDANCE AS REQUIRED IN EDINBURGH.
Key Responsibilities
- Administering and supporting SQL Server environments across development, test and production.
- Managing and optimising Azure Cosmos DB workloads for performance and scalability.
- Identifying and resolving database performance issues impacting legacy systems.
- Improving query performance, indexing strategies and reducing latency.
- Implementing monitoring, alerting and capacity planning improvements.
- Ensuring data security, access control and compliance with GDPR standards.
- Supporting modernisation of data platforms and ongoing service improvements.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong SQL Server DBA experience within live production environments.
- Proven expertise in performance tuning and resolving database bottlenecks.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB (including indexing and partitioning).
- Understanding of HA/DR principles and database resilience.
- Experience working in collaborative engineering or delivery teams.
- Ideally exposure to public sector or highly regulated environments.
