SEO Specialist β Inside IR35 Contract β Digital News Publisher
A leading British digital publisher is seeking a temporary Technical SEO Specialist to spearhead discovery, optimisation, and implementation support, with a focus on maximising organic visibility and enhancing site performance. Supporting a key domain migration of a core publishing website hosting a large volume of articles and content-related posts.
Rate: 550 Inside IR35
Hybrid/Location: 3 days per week to the London Bridge Office
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits for large, content-rich domains, especially post-migration.
- Identify indexation gaps, crawl inefficiencies, and performance bottlenecks.
- Develop and deliver a prioritised SEO roadmap, including quick wins, mid-term fixes, and strategic recommendations.
- Define and track measurable success metrics (crawl efficiency, visibility, indexation, Core Web Vitals).
- Collaborate closely with internal developers via Jira to scope, deliver, and validate technical fixes.
- Advise on emerging search trends, including Google Zero and AI-driven search experiences.
- Proven experience leading enterprise-level SEO projects for large, content-rich clients (Preferably Publishers, News, and Media)
- Proficiency with Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Botify, and related SEO tools.
- Deep understanding of site architecture, crawling, and indexation management.
- Hands-on experience optimising Core Web Vitals and site performance.
- Comfortable working with APIs (e.g., Search Console Inspection API, Google Sheets scripting).
- Experience with log file analysis to identify crawl inefficiencies and anomalies.
- Demonstrated success in SEO migrations, crawl budget optimisation, and topic/tag management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, product managers, and delivery teams
