About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reserving Manager to join our Actuarial team. This is a pivotal role supporting the UK & European business areas, with scope to contribute to other territories as needed. You will lead the quarterly reserving process, assess profitability across business lines, and project profit commission accruals, helping shape strategic decisions through actuarial insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the quarterly reserving process, including profitability assessments and profit commission projections.
- Enhance and expand methodologies for assessing Ultimate Loss Ratios (ULRs) and modelling profit commissions.
- Support the development of a robust actuarial database as the central source of reserving data.
- Implement effective controls to ensure data integrity and model accuracy.
- Conduct deep-dive reviews of products to identify trends, growth opportunities, and corrective actions.
- Assist in developing Management Information (MI) that incorporates reserving analytics.
- Communicate key findings and uncertainties to stakeholders in a clear and engaging manner.
- Mentor junior team members and promote knowledge sharing across the team.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience in general insurance.
- Strong background in actuarial reserving, ideally with London market experience.
- Proven ability to develop and enhance actuarial models, including data specification, reconciliation, testing, and documentation.
- Proficient in SQL and comfortable working with large, complex datasets.
- Experience with ResQ, Excel, Power BI, and Python is highly desirable.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on auditability and documentation.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- Strong communicator, capable of presenting technical findings to non-technical audiences.
