Business Analyst – Data
Are you a data-driven professional passionate about creating scalable solutions that enhance decision-making and business intelligence? We are seeking a Data-Focused Business Analyst to join a transformative program aimed at building a robust, secure, and scalable technology foundation.
This for our client who are a Global Business Intelligence, Publications and events group. This will be on an initial 6 month contract, mainly remote working with minimal travel to London and Inside IR35.
About the Role
As a Data-Focused Business Analyst , you will play a key role in a strategic data management project designed to improve visibility, control, and decision-making around technology and digital services. Your primary focus will be designing and delivering data models and lineage maps to support the development of an enterprise data platform that processes technology metadata and drives business intelligence capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Asset Modelling: Create comprehensive data models and lineage maps that guide development efforts.
- Data Platform Development: Work closely with the development team to build a scalable platform that processes metadata from diverse systems.
- UAT and Quality Assurance: Lead user acceptance testing, identify and resolve bugs, and ensure data assets meet design and quality standards before production release.
- Business Intelligence Support: Assist in creating detailed BI reports to provide actionable insights for stakeholders.
What You'll Deliver
- Data Lineage Maps: Clear, detailed lineage maps that support data governance and compliance.
- Prioritised Data Assets: Maintain and update a backlog of data assets to address evolving business and technical needs.
- Validated Data Assets: Ensure rigorous testing processes are followed and deliverables meet the highest quality standards.
- Impactful Reporting: Contribute to progress reviews with detailed updates and enhanced reporting capabilities.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with modern data platforms such as MS Fabric, Synapse Notebooks, PySpark, and Delta Lake.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong capabilities in analyzing data, understanding transformation rules, and conducting integrity checks.
- Data Modelling Knowledge: Proficiency in designing and documenting complex data models and lineage maps.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Experience gathering and articulating requirements, building strong stakeholder relationships, and providing clear, proactive feedback.
- Project Management Insight: Ability to manage tasks within sprints, ensure timely delivery, and contribute to sprint planning and progress tracking.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively across diverse teams and present findings and insights clearly.
