Our public sector client is looking for an experienced Animal Health Officer to support their regulatory team on a short-term contract.
This is a hands-on role focused on routine inspections, compliance, and animal welfare enforcement across a variety of premises.
The Role
- Enforcing animal health & welfare legislation
- Carrying out licensing compliance inspections (homes, kennels, riding schools, retail, etc.)
- Supporting the current part time Animal Health Officer
- Investigating animal welfare complaints and supporting disease control activity
- Maintaining accurate records in line with Scottish Government standards (including Uniform system)
Focus is on routine surveillance, education, and enforcement - no active disease outbreaks.
What You'll Need
- Experience within a Scottish local authority regulatory service
- Strong knowledge of: Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006
- Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (Scotland) Regulations 2021
- Full UK driving licence + access to a vehicle
