We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer (AVP level) to join a high-performing Application Production Support (APS) team within a leading global investment bank in London.

You will play a critical role supporting a low-latency Cash Equities trading platform, working directly alongside front office traders, quants, and developers to ensure stability, performance, and continuous improvement of a mission-critical execution environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to high-frequency trading systems, global markets, and cutting-edge real-time technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on Level 1/2/3 support for the Cash Equities Execution platform
  • Sit directly with High Touch and Low Touch trading desks, supporting real‑time trading activity
  • Monitor system health, performance, and trading flows across global markets
  • Develop and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks
  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and deliver timely resolution
  • Own and manage incident lifecycle, including detailed post-incident reporting
  • Collaborate closely with Front Office developers, quants, and BA teams
  • Support production releases and deployments, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Automate manual processes using scripting to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Maintain and improve operational documentation (runbooks, procedures, tools)
  • Participate in on-call and weekend rotations as part of a global support model
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience supporting trading systems or low-latency platforms
  • Solid expertise in Unix/Linux environments and system-level troubleshooting
  • Proficient in at least one scripting/programming language (e.g. Python, Bash, Go)
  • Experience with monitoring & observability tools (e.g. Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, latency, etc.)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, distributed systems under pressure
  • Experience working in production support / SRE / APS environments
  • Exposure to electronic trading, equities, or financial markets
  • Experience with log management tools (Splunk, OpenSearch)
  • Knowledge of messaging systems (Kafka, Tibco, Solace)
  • Familiarity with databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, KDB/q)
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g. Corvil)
  • Background in high‑availability, high‑throughput environments
