Our client is currently looking for a new member of staff to join their Ocean freight department. The company are part of a larger group and have offices throughout the UK. The company offers door to door logistics solutions via Air, Road and Sea freight within specialised commodities. They are currently expanding and looking for an Export Supervisor for their office based in East London. The role would ideally suit someone who can offer good freight forwarding ocean freight export experience and is looking for the next step up into a supervisor role.
Purpose of the role: Ultimately to manage a small team of approx. 5 members of operational staff within the ocean freight export side of the business. You will show initiative within your role and be able to implement processes and procedures in place to enable growth within the company. You will liaise closely with the commercial director for the department to provide growth. You will be expected to embark on a period of process improvement and efficiency implementation by strengthening and improving the operational aspects of the team which will enable the commercial team members to expand the customer base and progress into new commodities.
Duties will include:
- Ensure smooth day to day running of the operation
- Support the team with guidance when operational challenges arise
- First point of escalation for customer and client queries
- Work with commercial colleagues to improve file profitability
- Drive and facilitate process improvement within the team
- Upskilling and training the team
- Staff rotas
- Support credit control to ensure customers keep their account up to date
- Monitor supplier and customer queries and ensure they are up to date
Requirements:
You will need to have experience of freight forwarding within ocean freight exports to quickly take ownership of the operational team. You will have a good understanding of IT systems and processes. You will thrive driving change for improvement. You will be ambitious, forward thinking with a desire to succeed and grow within your role.
Benefits: In return for your hard work, you will be rewarded with a generous negotiable salary of £45k, a pension scheme, up to 25 days holiday plus bank holidays working Monday to Friday within the office.
