Our client is currently looking for a new member of staff to join their team at their Basildon office. The company is a freight forwarder who provides worldwide freight solutions for air, road and sea freight. They have been established for many years and work as a small team covering all aspects of air, road and sea freight both imports and exports.

Purpose of the role: To manage the export process for all modes of transport; air, sea and road freight from start to finish within the department for which ocean freight experience will be necessary.

Duties will include:

  • Responsible for confirming bookings from clients via email or telephone.
  • Raising the file within the operational system and making the booking with the relevant shipping line.
  • Obtaining the best quotation and where necessary confirming the selling rate to the client.
  • Requesting all paperwork from the shipper and sending to the shipping line.
  • Working with the branch manager and colleagues to maximize the profits for both the export department and the company as a whole.
  • Oversee and coordinate multi-modal export shipments, ensuring timely delivery across all transportation modes including sea, air and road.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and other export standards to ensure all shipments meet legal requirements.
  • Liaise with 3PL providers, carriers, customs authorities, and internal departments to facilitate smooth export operations.
  • Ensuring that the DGN has been sent and approved for any hazardous cargo.
  • Producing and sending all paperwork required for export clearance.
  • Producing pre-alerts to agents worldwide.
  • Checking Bills of Lading.
  • Liaise with accounts department for any sales/cost queries.
  • Invoicing files within the system and passing purchase invoices relevant to your files.
  • Filing operations files.

Requirements: To be successful for the role you will need to have experience of working within a freight forwarder dealing with ocean freight exports. Training will be provided in any areas of work for instance road and air that you do not have experience in. You will possess a strong understanding of supply chain processes and logistics operations within an export environment, and be familiar with relevant regulations related to exports and international shipping standards.

Salary: £32k negotiable depending on experience.
