Our client is currently seeking an experienced Freight Forwarding candidate who can cover all modes of transport. You will be required to cover predominantly Ocean Freight Imports and Exports operations, but you will also be covering both the Road and Air Freight departments as and when required. This role is ideal for someone with strong sea freight knowledge who is looking to broaden their logistics skills, work collaboratively with internal teams, and deliver excellent service to customers and partners. No prior experience in air or road freight is required — full training will be provided. Alongside operational responsibilities, this position includes a commercial element involving outbound customer calls to help support and grow our multimodal offering.
Responsibilities
- Manage sea freight import and export files from quotation through to final delivery
- Support airfreight and road freight booking processes (training provided)
- Communicate effectively with customers, overseas agents, suppliers, and internal departments
- Arrange customs clearance, documentation, and final delivery bookings
- Resolve operational issues promptly and professionally
- Ensure files are accurately costed, invoiced, and maintained
- Monitor customer and supplier credit limits in line with company policy
- Carry out additional tasks as requested by the line
Commercial Responsibilities
- Make outbound calls to existing and prospective customers
- Build strong, long-term customer relationships through confident, friendly communication
- Follow up on leads, quotations, and business opportunities
- Understand customer requirements and offer suitable freight solutions
- Identify new opportunities to support the wider commercial strategy
- Work closely with sales and operations teams to ensure joined customer development
Requirements Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in sea freight operations
- Strong understanding of international forwarding processes
- Experience with customs clearance procedures
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Proactive problem-solver with a positive approach
Hours: 0800 – 1700 Monday to Friday
Salary: £34,000 – £36,000 (dependent on experience)
