With the support of our enthusiastic and accomplished staff, our students achieve excellent results, and the Progress 8 performance measure has regularly placed Loreto in the top 4% of schools in the country. The school is oversubscribed and has earned an excellent reputation for discipline, pastoral care and academic standards.

The science department has a vacancy for a part‑time Science Technician. The successful applicant will need to be flexible and adaptable. Some scientific background would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be given where appropriate. The job is varied involving the setting up and clearing away of equipment, maintenance and repair of equipment and the trialling of experiments. An understanding of health and safety is essential. A good sense of humour is an absolute must, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This post is term time only plus one September inset day – the possible working patterns are outlined below:

  • Option 1: 2 days – Thursday and Friday – 8am to 4pm. Plus 1 other day (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) – 8am to 3:30pm. All working days come with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break.
  • Option 2: 2 days – Thursday and Friday – 8am to 4pm (30‑minute unpaid lunch break). Plus 2 half days (3½ hours) – flexible on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Annual salary range (including fringe allowance) is approximately £12,420 to £13,340 per annum (dependent upon experience). We reserve the right to interview and make an appointment before the closing date, so early applications are advisable.
