Medical Communications Manager – London based
A DAY IN THE LIFE
This key role manages the execution of UKI medical communication plans for brands within LDB, ensuring impactful omnichannel activations aligned with the brand and medical strategy and international vision.
You will lead the development of essential medical detailing content, amplify the awareness of NHS-prescribed products, and provide critical support for medical events and digital platforms. This role demands a highly collaborative individual, acting as a key medical expert within the organisation, leading claims sign-off processes, and working closely with diverse cross-functional teams, including Medical Relations, Marketing, Legal, and Scientific/CMI, to ensure strategic alignment and compliance.
You will
- Be responsible for managing the execution of the UKI Medical communication strategy in line with the brand and medical strategy and the international vision.
- Be responsible for message coherence working closely with medical relations, marketing, medical detailing, PR, commercial and digital to guarantee the coherence of messages across all touch points (B2B, B2C and B2B2C).
- Lead the development of medical detailing materials: working in a team to develop the material suitable for brand standards and directed to healthcare professionals.
- Medical Events: support Medical Relations to deliver best-in-class medical conferences and events, ensuring messaging is aligned with communication plan.
- Support the growth on owned medical websites: support the Omnichannel Manager to increase the growth and brand presence on online platforms through content creation in line with the medical campaigns.
- Support the teledermatology project together with the medical relations team to reach new opportunities and continue our growth with existing platforms.
- Lead the amplification of products prescribed on the NHS to increase awareness and support the Field Team with communication materials for their formulary applications.
- Support Medical Relations Teams with the organisation of Medical Ad-Boards and attend regular field visits to assess impact of materials and take learnings from these to optimise the comms strategy and messaging.
- Lead claims sign-off working closely with the Legal, Scientific / CMI & Marketing Teams to sign off the strongest, fully compliant brand and product claims that resonate with the medical audience.
- Be a medical expert for other functions, collaborating closely with the training team to integrate medical expertise at a divisional level.
- Manage and coach the medical communications intern to collaboratively deliver medical Communications KPIs, on time, and on budget.
Your Skills
Experience preferably within a fast-paced consumer driven business / pharma environment
Educated with a degree, preferably in a life science or equivalent.
Scientific & Health Care knowledge – capacity to understand and translate scientific/medical language & healthcare systems in UK and Ireland.
Digital orientation – experience with digital communication campaigns including strategy, CRM and GDPR
Highly entrepreneurial mindset – autonomy, strategic thinking and collaboration are critical to drive our brands.
Vision – able to create and develop a strategy, taking the lead on motivating the wider business.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and excellent presentation skills, able to influence and inspire any audience.
Know how to manage the complexity in terms of number stakeholders, projects, timelines and clarity of message.
Resilience and flexibility – the ability to adapt to dynamic business and market demands, overcoming challenges and driving success in an innovate way.
Creativity – able to create innovative, cost-effective solutions, to drive the best ROI whilst maintaining brand equity.
Strong analytical skills including advanced competency with CRM, and Microsoft office programs.
A strong sensitivity to the dermatological skincare market, with a keenness to develop understanding for the different category dynamics, upcoming trends in this field and the latest competitor activity.
