Located in a prominent position on Shoreditch High Street, One Hundred signifies the evolution of Shoreditch and is home to 258 bedrooms and suites, restaurants and bars and five meeting and event spaces. The restaurants and bars include Seed Library, a cocktail bar by renowned bartender Mr Lyan and Kaso a rooftop bar and terrace with panoramic views across East London. The lobby bar and coffee shop and Sticks & Sushi complete the hotel’s food and drinks offering. Bedrooms and suites at the hotel place emphasis on comfort and are designed as your retreat from the vibrancy and energy of the area, providing headspace and calm the heart of Shoreditch allowing you to disconnect from the outside world. As Day Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring our hotel facilities, guest rooms, public spaces and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards, creating a safe, comfortable and seamless experience for our guests and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across the hotel.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests and guest issues.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults across electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general building systems.
  • Supporting contractors and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation.
  • Assisting with hotel projects, refurbishments and upgrades.
  • Ensuring the hotel remains safe, compliant and operational at all times.
  • Providing shift cover when required, including for annual leave, sickness and other absences.
  • Working collaboratively within the engineering team, supporting a positive day-shift dynamic by communicating effectively, sharing knowledge and ensuring seamless coordination with colleagues and other departments to maintain high standards of building operations.
  • Participating in engineering meetings, toolbox talks, training sessions and continuous improvement activities.
  • Providing clear handovers between shifts, highlighting outstanding jobs, ongoing faults, contractor activities and urgent issues.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and representing the hotel engineering department positively at all times.
  • Ensuring tools, equipment, ladders and machinery are used safely and maintained in good condition.
  • Assisting with furniture, fixtures, fittings, doors, locks and general building repairs.
  • Identifying recurring faults and recommending preventative solutions to reduce breakdowns and operational disruption.
  • Ensuring plant rooms, workshops and maintenance areas are kept clean, organised and safe.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a hotel, commercial property or facilities maintenance environment.
  • Strong practical skills across general maintenance disciplines.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and fault finding.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent service to both guests and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and compliance requirements.
  • Flexibility is essential to support the wider Engineering team as business needs require.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends and bank holidays when operationally required.
