This isn't just about keeping things ticking over. Please note that due to the location of the branch you will need your own, reliable transport.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising forklift drivers and yard colleagues to ensure safe, efficient working
- Coordinating deliveries, unloading and loading with accuracy and pace
- Making sure stock is stored, racked and handled correctly
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe yard and warehouse environment
- Managing forklift checks, maintenance and any breakdown issues
- Working closely with drivers, the branch team and customers on site
- Supporting stock control, ordering and reporting low stock
- Keeping on top of health and safety, PPE and site compliance at all times
- Opening and closing the site and ensuring security procedures are followed
Experience:
- Experience in a yard, warehouse or similar supervisory role
- Background in a builders' merchant or similar environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to organise and motivate a team
- Solid understanding of warehouse operations and stock control
- Confident with health and safety and safe working practices
- Hands-on approach and willingness to support the team
- Clear communicator who can keep things running smoothly under pressure
