We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Branch Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our West Bromwich branch. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, supporting a high‑performing team, ensuring exceptional customer service, and contributing to the branch’s continued growth and success.

What We Need From You

  • Safety First: Lead from the front in terms of both compliance and setting safety and environmental standards. We have great systems to support this and are investing in training and equipment to support these objectives. The Branch Manager is responsible for making sure these processes are followed in the branch. To lead from the front in the continuous improvement of safety processes and procedures. Develop staff knowledge on safety through training, engagement, and regular communications. Live and breathe our Golden Safety principles.
  • Sales and Customer Service: Drive branch sales campaigns that focus on onboarding customers and improving sales of identified product lines. Implement and support the branch led aspects of our new store sales and marketing plan so we can maximise impact and customer sign-ups to make a successful launch of a new branch. Maintain a focus on call answer rates within branches. Drive an increase in sales tickets raised, average lines and average value per ticket. Take feedback from the branches and share with the senior team to deliver on actions that improve our customer retention and attraction. Make sure new stores get off to the best possible start by supporting the new branch sales and marketing plans. Achieve branch Sales and Margin targets, as a new branch this number will build up from zero.
  • People: Set and support a culture that attracts, onboards, develops, and retains great people. Complete regular 121 reviews with direct reports with a focus on performance and culture. Using a SMART framework to get things done and empower the branch managers to achieve their respective goals. Celebrate strong performance, develop talent and manage underperformance within the branch.
  • Communication: Build strong relationships with peers in different departments including HR, fleet, commercial, finance etc. Deliver a branch communication plan that keeps all colleagues up to date on how they are performing and keeping the team abreast of the latest information and developments across stock, customers, safety, and sales opportunities etc. Communicate in line with the company strategy. Daily/ weekly/ monthly review of sales and Gross Profit to ensure we are maximizing our chance to take market share.
  • Profit: Achieve EBITDA and margin targets through management of the branch P&L. Stock management - ensure processes related to stock management are followed and investigate and rectify where there are shortfalls. Debt management- support credit control in collecting of debt by making sure we minimize queries through ERP adherence and getting the order right first time.

Skills And Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record in sales within a plumbers merchant (or similar) with a knowledge of how local trades like to buy and what it takes to build relationships with customers.
  • Proven track record of driving sales in a trade counter/ sales office environment (customer sign ups, Product led campaigns, branch sales and marketing action plans etc).
  • Commercial awareness on margin and gross profit.
  • People Management skills (recruitment, induction, 121 reviews etc).
