Northampton (4 days office / 1 day WFH)

Are you an experienced Credit Controller who enjoys building relationships as much as collecting cash B2B trade? We're looking for a Credit Controller with trade credit experience to join our team in Northampton. This is far more than a collections role - you'll have ownership of your own ledger, giving you the opportunity to build strong relationships with customers, branches and sales teams while managing the full credit journey from account opening through to ongoing trading.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll play a key role in supporting strong cash flow across the business, resolving customer queries and helping our branches deliver excellent customer service. You'll also join a collaborative team that shares knowledge and supports each other to ensure seamless cover during holidays and busy periods.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing your own customer ledger to ensure collection objectives are achieved
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, branches and sales teams
  • Opening new customer accounts and supporting customers throughout the trading relationship
  • Monitoring customer accounts and collecting outstanding debts via telephone, email and written communication
  • Dealing with customer queries and seeing them through to resolution
  • Liaising with internal teams to ensure issues are resolved promptly
  • Preparing reports to highlight issues such as overtrading and accounts at risk
  • Escalating issues to the Divisional Credit Manager where appropriate
  • Acting as the local point of contact for all matters relating to collections and credit management
  • Supporting the wider team and carrying out other duties as required

What We’re Looking For

  • 3 years’ previous experience in a Credit Control role
  • A hands‑on approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills
  • Experience managing a varied workload within a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent communication and decision‑making skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of business principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Experience in merchanting or construction is an advantage

Location: Moulton Park, Northampton
Hours: 8.30am-4.30pm Mon-Fri, one day per week at home
