The Transport Controller will ensure the smooth and compliant day-to-day running of the transport operation. Working closely with the Logistics Manager, this role focuses on scheduling deliveries, maintaining vehicle compliance, and supporting drivers to achieve safe, efficient, and timely deliveries. Acting as the key link between the transport team and the wider operation, the Transport Controller plays an important role in maintaining service standards and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:- Schedule and coordinate daily deliveries to meet customer requirements.
- Monitor driver compliance with hours, tachographs, and CPC requirements.
- Arrange routine vehicle inspections, servicing, and repairs.
- Liaise with suppliers for vehicle and crane maintenance.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, safe, and defect reports are logged and actioned.
- Manage fuel cards and monitor fuel usage to prevent waste.
- Record tachograph data and maintain compliance records.
- Assist with accident reporting and ensure correct procedures are followed.
- Support Health & Safety standards, including manual handling and PPE compliance.
- Maintain accurate documentation for deliveries and collections.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve delivery-related issues promptly.
- Carry out other reasonable duties to support the transport function.
- Assist the Logistics Manager in their duties and take on certain aspects of their role.
- Promote and uphold the highest standards of Health & Safety, including active participation in “Near Miss” reporting to help maintain a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues, and our customers.
- Always maintain strong security awareness, ensuring company assets and customer goods are protected.
- Present yourself in a clean, tidy, and professional manner, always wearing the correct company uniform.
- Follow the correct procedures for reporting sickness or absence in a timely and responsible manner.
- Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is always worn, in line with company policy and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with the wider branch team to support smooth daily operations.
- Be flexible and willing to support other areas of Lords Group Trading when required, including temporary assignments in different departments or branches.
- Carry out any additional duties that are reasonable and within the scope of the role, contributing to the overall success of the team.
